Hi!
My name’s Luke Maeser, and I’m a passionate game developer with a Master of Arts in Game Design from Lindenwood University. From a young age, I was captivated by the power of video games capable of transporting players into amazing new worlds. I enjoyed immersing myself in different environments, imagining myself in the shoes of others, learning and growing from their experiences. A fascination with storytelling and interactive experiences led me to create my own games within the Little Big Planet series, discovering for myself, the joy of building and sharing my own worlds.
As I explored game development, passion for creating immersive, player-driven experiences deepened. My Master’s thesis, Impactful Interactivity within Video Games, explored how meaningful interactivity in game evokes emotional and psychological responses, a concept informing my design and philosophy. To further develop my thesis project, AL+ONE, I founded MAZE3 Studios, continuing to push the boundaries of what games can achieve. With experience as a Lead Game Design intern, I developed skills in AI programing, level design and gameplay mechanics, certified in industry standard tools like Unity and Unreal Engine. I believe the best games seamlessly blend story, design, and gameplay creating experiences that entertain and leave lasting impact on players."I am pleased to offer my enthusiastic recommendation for Luke Maeser, who has demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication in his roles at Sports Media Inc. Over the past few months, Luke has made significant contributions as both a Game Design Intern and a Lead Game Design Intern.
During his tenure as a Game Design Intern from June 2024 to July 2024, Luke showcased a strong proficiency in game mechanics, UI design, and environment development using advanced tools such as Unreal Engine and Blackshark.ai. His ability to manage project files efficiently with Git, GitHub, and Git LFS highlighted his technical competence and collaborative spirit.
Luke’s performance in his subsequent role as Lead Game Design Intern from July 2024 to August 2024 was particularly impressive. He excelled in leading his intern team through various stages of game development, resolving issues with poise, and meticulously documenting the development process. His collaboration with leadership and business partners to design and refine the game demonstrated not only his technical skills but also his leadership and communication abilities.
Luke's work ethic, coupled with his technical skills and leadership capabilities, makes him a valuable asset to any team. He approaches every challenge with enthusiasm and a problem-solving mindset, which greatly contributed to the success of our projects. I have no doubt that he will continue to excel in his future endeavors.
I highly recommend Luke Maeser for any role in game design or development. His blend of technical expertise and leadership acumen will undoubtedly make him a standout contributor to any organization.""Luke displayed great leadership skills as he directed a project for a game being designed by Sports Media. During the meetings I attended, he would provide guidance and direction for the team members in order to push forward on the game. When an instance of a new design engine was to be incorporated, there were issues that came up which ended up halting the teams progress. Luke then communicated with the CEO the issues to allow for the team to be able to reconcile the problems and return to productivity.
My interactions with Luke as a Video Creator and Editor involved discussions on putting a demo together. Luke provided me the guidance that his team would need so they would be able to incorporate the gaming models into the video which I would then be able to use to create a demo video.
Luke was very easy to work with and was able to respond to my inquiries in an expedient manner.""Luke is an extremely hard worker and great team member. As team lead Luke took it upon himself to send updates about our project progress and everything going on.
From his own work on the game to his work helping the rest of the team Luke was truly a powerful and positive force for the two months I worked with him.
I would highly recommend Luke for any and all positions he applies for, from his work ethic to positive attitude he is a genuine pleasure to work with."
"I have known Luke for three years, when I was first asked to serve on his thesis committee for his M.A. in Game Design. For his project, he created a unique game designed titled "Alone," which aimed at showcasing the power of video games to affect individuals on a psychological level and to provide an opportunity for self-growth and learning. Luke demonstrated technical prowess and a deep understanding of game design, as well as an ability to create digital assets necessary for the project. The connection between audio and visual within a game environment also demonstrated a greater understanding of the affect a properly synchronized merging of the two can have on an individual's experience.
Luke is highly intelligent, creative, and innovative, and is able to take advice and apply it effectively to improve in areas he may have less experience with. He also demonstrated a work ethic and determination to complete the tasks set before him, while seeking guidance and asking questions when needed for clarification.Luke would perform well in any environment, and has shown he is willing and able to adapt when needed to succeed. I would highly recommend him for any position he pursues as a true asset to that company."
"I was fortunate enough to serve on Luke's committee while he worked on his Master's at Lindenwood University. The work he created was superb and inspiring.
Not only did Luke show a high level of technical proficiency when it came to designing and developing his own video game, but his thesis project also showed a deep consideration for conceptual design and narrative storytelling.
Luke has an unmatched passion and drive for making engaging interactive experiences, and he is an absolute pleasure to work with. I would be honored to make a recommendation on his behalf."
